BUFTA Academy

WHAT IS BUFTA ACADEMY ROADSHOW?

For two weeks in 2019, BUFTA visited Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth across for the annual BUFTA Academy Roadshow. The BUFTA Academy is an opportunity for high school students to meet and talk to one of our teaching staff and industry experts directly about film and television and to prepare them to enter BUFTA.

BUFTA Student Academy

The BUFTA Student Academy is an opportunity for high school students to meet and talk to our teaching staff and industry experts directly about film and television and to prepare them to enter BUFTA. Students will have the choice between two workshops. One in colour grading and one in cinematography and lighting. These workshops are offered to students with all levels of filmmaking experience; from beginners to advanced.

The 2019 BUFTA Student Academy will be held on Sunday 11 August. Click here to register your attendance.

BUFTA Masterclass

ABOUT THE BUFTA MASTERCLASS

The BUFTA Masterclass is designed to help teachers help students. The BUFTA Masterclass is a highly coveted, hands-on series of professional development workshops that incorporate key aspects of filmmaking into an action packed day of training. The two-day event offers a range of options for experienced teachers, or teachers who are ready to take the next step. Teacher’s will have the choice between a filmmaking or screenwriting workshop.

*Important note: This year Bond University will be hosting the 2019 Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Queensland Conference from 9 November. As such, we will be running the BUFTA Teachers Masterclass during this conference. If you are a teacher of Media / Media Studies, we encourage you to visit https://www.atomqld.org.au/ .

ENTERTAINMENT: Gold Coast Comedian, Rob Brown

In 2018, we welcomed back our host James Mathison to the BUFTA stage, and were lucky enough to have comedian Rob Brown perform! 

James is a well-known TV host, featuring on programs such as: The Celebrity Apprentice Australia, Ready Steady Cook, Channel V, The 7pm Project, The ARIA Awards, and Australian Idol. Over the past decade, James has worked hard to establish himself in the industry and uses his status to give voice to the younger generation of Australians.

Rob is best known as an entertainment regular on ‘The NRL Footy Show’, and has headlined international comedy festivals in Singapore, Malaysia, the UK and the U.S.A!

ENTERTAINMENT: Jason Gray from Coast Magicians

In 2017, we welcomed back our host James Mathison to the BUFTA stage, and were lucky enough to have magician Jason Gray perform!

James is a well-known TV host, featuring on programs such as: The Celebrity Apprentice Australia, Ready Steady Cook, Channel V, The 7pm Project, The ARIA Awards, and Australian Idol. Over the past decade, James has worked hard to establish himself in the industry and uses his status to give voice to the younger generation of Australians.

Jason is a professional close up and stage Magician from Queensland. Featured on the hit television show Australia’s Got Talent, Jason impressed celebrity judges Dannii Mingoue, Kyle Sandilands and Brian McFadden with his fresh and unique approach to the stage!

BUFTA is proud to announce that James Mathison will be hosting the 2016 Gala Awards and Ellen Reed will be performing! 

James is a well-known TV host, featuring on programs such as: The Celebrity Apprentice Australia, Ready Steady Cook, Channel V, The 7pm Project, The ARIA Awards, and Australian Idol. Over the past decade, James has worked hard to establish himself in the industry and uses his status to give voice to the younger generation of Australians.

In addition to wowing The Voice Australia celebrity coaches Jessie J, Delta Goodrem, Ronan Keating, and the Maddens, Ellen Reed has also performed live for former US President Bill Clinton, The Queensland ALP Launch, Queensland Firebirds and the Australian Olympic Swimming Team.
